1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using LLYLI ("Learn the Language You Live In"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. What LLYLI Does
LLYLI helps you learn the language of the country you live in. Capture words from your daily life, and the app turns them into lasting vocabulary with science-backed spaced repetition and real sentence context.
The app currently supports English speakers learning Portuguese (Portugal), Dutch, or Swedish. Review sessions work fully offline.
Free Tier
- Capture up to 30 words from your real life (onboarding starter words don't count toward this limit)
- Unlimited review sessions with four exercise types
- Full access to spaced repetition, progress tracking, and gamification
LLYLI Pro (Subscription)
- Unlimited word captures
- Everything in the Free Tier
- Available as a monthly or yearly subscription
3. Subscriptions and Payments
Billing
- Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID account
- Payment is charged at confirmation of purchase
- Prices are displayed in your local currency in the app
Free Trial
- The yearly plan includes a 7-day free trial
- You will not be charged during the trial period
- If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription begins and you will be charged
Renewal and Cancellation
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your iPhone Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You keep access until then
- No refunds are provided for partial billing periods
4. User Accounts
- You need an account to use LLYLI (via Sign in with Apple)
- You are responsible for keeping your account secure
- You can delete your account at any time from within the app
- Account deletion permanently removes all your data from our servers
5. Acceptable Use
Use LLYLI to learn. That's what it's for. You agree not to:
- Use the app for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
- Interfere with or disrupt the app's servers or networks
- Use automated systems to access the app beyond reasonable use
- Submit offensive, abusive, or inappropriate content through the capture feature
6. Intellectual Property
- The LLYLI app, its design, code, and branding are owned by LLYLI
- The spaced repetition algorithm (FSRS) is open-source under the MIT license
- AI-generated content (translations, sentences, quiz options) is created for your personal learning use
- Your captured words and learning data belong to you
7. AI-Generated Content
LLYLI uses AI (via OpenAI) to generate translations, example sentences, and quiz options. We work hard to get it right, but:
- AI-generated content may contain errors
- Translations are for learning, not professional translation work
- We do not guarantee the accuracy of any AI-generated content
8. Availability and Changes
- We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the service
- Review sessions work offline. Word capture and sync require an internet connection
9. No Ads, No Tracking
LLYLI does not show ads and does not track you across other apps or websites. We collect only what's needed to make the app work. See our Privacy Policy for details.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- LLYLI is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, where the developer is registered. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Portugal.
